CreativeMornings Cleveland is headed to the Collinwood neighborhood this month, featuring Robin VanLear at the Waterloo Sculpture Garden. Collinwood is further outside of the city than we traveled so far, which is fitting for this month’s global theme: BEYOND.
So much inspiration comes from “beyond” — beyond the places we’ve traveled, past our comfort zones, past previous records or achievements. There is excitement and curiosity to anything that’s further than we’ve been, physically or mentally, personally or as a society.
Robin VanLear is best known as the director of Community Art at The Cleveland Museum of Art where she is the founder and artistic director of the 28 year running event, Parade the Circle. Outside of the museum, Robin has made a monumental impact on the performing arts landscape in Northeast Ohio with artistic credits running over several decades with: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, The Cleveland Orchestra, Playhouse Square Foundation, Cleveland Opera on Tour, Cleveland Public Theater, GroundWorks DanceTheater, The College of Wooster, Fusion Fest, Lake View Cemetery, Rockefeller Park and many others. In her massive body of work, Robin has connected imagination and cultural experience from far corners of the earth with people and neighborhoods all over Northeast Ohio. We’ve asked Robin to share how the idea of beyond has influenced and impacted the things she creates.
