Before our fall hiking series we are offering a hike in collaboration with the University of Akron Field Station located within The Bath Nature Preserve. The BNP is 404 acres of land consisting of several environmental habitats--wetlands, woodlands, riparian, and old-field habitats. The hike will be approximately 3 miles, starting at the Field Station taking the Bridle Trail loop coming back up on the North Fork Trail and then back down on Bridle Trail to end at the Field Station. The hike will start with Dr. Lara Roketenetz discussing what programs are available through BNP. Appalachian Outfitter's Chelsea Smith will then lead the hike within BNP. There is no limit to the number of participants, however to participate in the hike there is a program fee of $10 that will need to be prepaid ahead of time. This can be done by calling the store at 330.655.5444. A donation will be made to the University of Akron Field Station. The group will meet on Wednesday, August 30th at 6pm at the Field Station parking lot. Enter of Ira Road then follow the road past the main parking lot and stop at the second house which is the Field Station. Parking is limited, so carpool if possible.
