Lyra/Aerial Hoop 101 is created to give brand new students a solid foundation to continue on in our weekly lyra class on Sundays. Students wishing to review basics are also welcome.
Aerial hoop, also known as Lyra or Cercea, is a circular metal apparatus that suspends from the ceiling. The hoop provides a way to take dance and fitness to the air!
This 1.5 hour class will introduce the basic technique and fundamentals of Aerial hoop dance. Students will begin to build strength as we explore various movements under and inside the hoop.
Class begins with warming up and conditioning the muscles to ready the body for this new and exhilarating way to dance and workout. Once warmed and ready for aerial movement we will take it to the hoops by learning a basic mount and dismount, sitting inside the hoop and even hanging upside down!
No prior dance or fitness required, all levels welcome. Exercises and moves will be modified to meet each participant at their fitness level. No upper body strength? no problem! The hoops can be hung low to accommodate beginner fitness levels.
Please wear form fitting yoga or dance pants, form fitting top, (tank, short or long sleeves).
This class is $25 per person, or included on all Lyra and Unlimited memberships.
