On Friday, Sept. 15 from 8:30-4:00 p.m., the law school will host the annual Cox Center Conference, “Corporations on Trial: International Criminal and Civil Liability for Corporations for Human Rights Violations,” featuring leading experts from around the world and examining the various approaches that have been undertaken to deter, punish, and redress human rights abuses by corporations.
The conference will address two recent, groundbreaking developments in this field, including the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court’s announcement of plans to pursue indictments against corporations for crimes against humanity, and the upcoming U.S. Supreme Court oral arguments this fall on whether corporations can be sued for human rights violations.
The conference will take place in the CWRU Law Moot Courtroom and is free and open to the public. Attorneys can receive 6.25 hours of CLE credit for in-person attendance at the event. CLE credit is $100 for CWRU alumni and $200 for non-alumni. Advance registration is required to attend.
