Cleveland's brainiest happy hour is back with a new season of science topics and local brews on tap! Join us on Wednesday, September 20 for «Creatures of Light: Bioluminescence» featuring Butcher & The Brewer & Cleveland Whiskey.
-Take a close look at bioluminescent fungi and dinoflagellates — black light-friendly attire encouraged
-Discover the science behind fireflies and learn how to decode their twinkling lights
-Analyze how eyes work and why some creatures are able to see ultraviolet light
-Investigate the physics behind light and examine atoms that glow
-Hear about the use of fluorescence and bioluminescence in modern medicine
-Learn about plasma fluorescence, atomic and molecular emissions, and diffraction grating
-Create your own anglerfish headband
Planetarium Show: Astro-Luminescence (+$5/ticket)
The physics and chemistry triggering bioluminescence is magnified a million-fold in the sky. We'll look at aurorae, meteor trains, airglow, and vast clouds of glowing plasma deep in space.
Think & Drink with the Extinct is included with the cost of general admission. ($8/person after 5pm Wednesdays). Drink tickets can be purchased at either admissions counter upon entry to the event. ($5 beer/$6 wine).
