According to unofficial turnout numbers released by the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, approximately 30 percent of eligible Cuyahoga County voters cast ballots on Tuesday. In the city of Cleveland, only 23 percent of eligible voters cast a ballot – and more than 8,500 failed to vote in the mayor’s race. Arguably, local government has a much bigger impact on citizens’ day-to-day lives than national politics – and yet consistently attracts less voters. Why? What contributes to voter apathy? How can we prioritize local issues and elections?
Join us for a Dinner + Dialogue discussion on the importance of local elections and how they more directly affect the everyday lives of citizens.
Joining us are Pat McDonald, Director, Cuyahoga County Board of Elections and Susan Murnane, Co-President, League of Women Voters of Ohio Greater Cleveland Chapter
