Millevoi’s Desertion Trio features drummer Kevin Shea (Mostly Other People Do the Killing, Storm & Stress) and bassist Johnny DeBlase (Many Arms, Zevious). To celebrate the release of their second album, Midtown Tilt (Shhpuma), they’ll be joined by keyboardist Jamie Saft, known for his collaborations with a wide array of innovators from John Zorn to Iggy Pop. Inspired by the town of Wildwood, NJ and the anachronistic clash of reimagined cultures seen in its motels and amusements, Midtown Tilt is an amalgamation of jazz, psychedelic blues, surf music, and country rock instrumentals played by a crew of musicians most often seen shredding noise rock, avant garde jazz, and metal. A longtime staple of the Philly creative music scene, Millevoi is one-half of new-music duo and concert presenters Archer Spade (with trombonist Dan Blacksberg), co-founder of the prog-thrash-jazz trio Many Arms, plays with Chris Forsyth’s Solar Motel Band, and has recently joined the ranks of interpreters of John Zorn’s music, playing a selection of the iconoclastic composer’s Bagatelles.
