Post-Punk Maximum Rock-n-Roll band from Cleveland, Ohio that mixes eclectic songwriting & lyrics with a hard rock punk indie edge to deliver a maximum stage presence.The Drexels formed in Nov of 2007 with the core members being Bobby J, Matt Mugridge, Billy Spear, Paul Strachan, playing its first show in December 2007 Beachland Tavern, Cleveland, Ohio to a enthusiastic crowd of friends, many shows later at clubs like Now Thats Class, Grog Shop, the band was honing its set to now include original material which was taking shape. Tragically lead singer Matt Mugridge founder of The Grog Shop and a very influential figure in the Cleveland Punk Scene passed away in May of 2009.
Bobby J has been a staple in the Cleveland Scene since the early 80's and has been a founding member of many early punk & indie bands including The Gorbals (83-86), The God Squad (86-89) and Krumble which released «Thirteen» their debut on Ear Tonic Records in 2001 (1992-2002) and was lead guitarist for Jimmy Zero's (Dead Boys) band with the moniker of Lesbian Maker from (1999-2001) their debut show at original location of Grog Shop in 99 was played to a sold out crowd. Other shows to note were at the Beachland Ballroom and at the 39th Street Pub in Pittsburgh, PA with the Cynics. He worked with Wayne Kramer (MC5) and recorded a single for Wayne Kramer's Compilation «Beyond CyberPunk» released on Muzic Blitz Records in 2001.
The God Squad Retrospective 86-89 «Just Have to Live it» a double CD with 22 tracks was picked up and released on Smog Veil Records (Chicago) in 2002. Paul Strachan also is in metal/hard rock/progressive band Lotus Pedal and was original member of (Terrible Parade, The Tellers, The Skipped) Billy Spear is also active member of (Secret Saucer) Space Rock/Progressive Band.
The Drexels are known as a explosive, dynamic «live» rock-n-roll band. They have hit the road for Midwest touring playing at the Melody Inn, Indianapolis with Craig Bell's band The Down-Fi and Reggies in Chicago 2012-13. The Drexels celebrated their 10th Anniversary show this past Dec 2017 at Coda. They remastered their debut CD Turning Stone and released on Prayer Capsule Records © 2016 new artwork with extra tracks.

From the Cleveland underground comes a new band of veterans,calling themselves Black Static Eye,formed in march of 2017,they put together a loud,abrasive mix of blues, garage & post punk.,singer Fronted by Tom Dark (The Dark, Knifedance, Stepsister, Dead Federation) drummer Jeff Pell (Idiot Humans.Shadow of fear,Basket case, Garten Kirkhof, Dutch Babies) joined forces with guitarist Mike «shoobs» Schubert (Dead Federation,Nimrods,Missile Toe) & bassist Dave Olajos (Mexican coke)
