SHEEP-SHEARING AND OPENING DAY!
SPRING ARRIVES AS FARMERS MARKET AT CROCKER PARK OPENS ON SATURDAY APRIL 14
It’s time to put away the shovels, find a spring sweater and grab your reusable cloth shopping bags as North Union Farmers Market at Crocker Park
opens for the 2018 season on Saturday, April 14th from 9 a.m. until 1p.m.
Local farmers will line both sides of Crocker Park Boulevard with tempting displays of locally-grown produce, fresh meat and dairy products. Bakers will serve up crusty artisan breads and pastries while artists display hand-crafted clothing, jewelry, artwork and more.
The market’s 13th season kicks off at 9 a.m. with the beloved tradition of blessing local farms and farmers in hope of a fruitful and prosperous season. The annual sheep shearing with Geoff Baldwin features stories that delight young and old alike.
Live music adds to the festive morning and locals chefs will be on hand with cooking demonstrations and samples. Children’s activities attract families to the Mighty Locavores station, where they can make giant bubbles, plant garlic and learn about the nutritional value of fresh, local foods.
North Union Farmers Market is proud to accept SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) cards at the Shaker Square market. SNAP recipients visit the “Market Information” table to receive tokens for the purchase of fresh, local foods. North Union Farmers Market also participates in the Produce Perks Incentive Program run by the Cleveland Cuyahoga County Food Policy Coalition.
